CARNIVAL RIO

What does the Rio carnival have?, Where does that special magic that fascinates us come from?. Well the answer here is simple, Rio carnival is different from others, is so spectacular that, is today, part of the most successful shows on Earth: the tickets are sold out during the first week of selling, the rights of television are quite expensive and many international channels travel specially to cover the whole show, like if we were talking about a soccer match or the Olympic Games.

Nowadays the Rio carnival is made of 14 samba schools which compete for the title of Carnival Champion and the title is so important since it comes with hundred of thousands of dollars, many people say that this fact, the money, turns this carnival into the most important among others, and besides like in no other regions, the whole people participate from the youngest kid till the oldest woman. The tourists find and additional charm, Rio Carnival let them participate in the dances, something that they can’t do in other carnivals: only by paying an amount of money they can dance and march with different samba’s schools.
Wars of flowers and water, Indian, African, European dances, goddess’ and devils, everything goes in the Rio carnival, the party that has no control at all and also the biggest business that the Brazilian market has. Thousand of tourists travel from many parts of the world to see and enjoy this event  since from many decades Rio carnival has been the most famous carnival and also the most intense.
This celebration takes place in what we know as Sambodromo, for the ones who don’t know this places this is similar to a “passarella” , is where the “carioca” action stays. This place can host at least 50 thousand people and counts with private rooms and expensive seats, there the 14 samba’s schools march giving us the most beautiful environment of the night. The bad news here is that the VIP areas of this Sambodromo are booked by the most powerful companies of Brazil who pay around 70 thousand dollars or 350 (the most expensive ones) to take their clients and make business there.

When we say that Rio carnival is different from others is because the success of this one is higher than any other type of carnivals, the consume and incomes during this period can’t be compared, And when different countries of Latin-American realized that carnival was not only a celebration but also a profitable business, decided to organized their owns with the aim of get incomes and more tourists.The most well known case is Gualeguachú, the most famous argentine carnival that takes place in Entre Rios, this carnival has been growing more and more during the last 10 years and is a huge economic source for the province which receives at least 200 thousand tourists every year that travel specially to see his event.

Other example is Uruguay but here we don’t talk about carnival but Candombe, other type of celebration similar to carnivals that lasts 40 days.
Brazilians are aware that their Rio carnival and beaches are what attract the tourists to heir cities, that’s why they have developed a wonderful architecture, the government of this country has built hundreds of hotels that give the best service and organize the most completes tours for foreigners.
They also give the necessary information about the Rio carnival and explain the tourists what are they going to see in the Sambodromo, they also warn them about the drugs dealers and the robberies in the area.
